Rachel Maddow – $6.05 Million, Massachusetts
Despite spending most of her time in New York City, Rachel Maddow says she prefers a more rural atmosphere. The host shared a photo of herself ice fishing at the Ashfield Lake House in Western Massachusetts. She described it as “the most amazing spot on the planet.”
Maddow and her long-term companion, artist Susan Mikula, live in a pre-Civil War farmhouse in Western Massachusetts. They bought this pre-civil war home for $605,000 in 2013. The mansion boasts a two-bedroom, one-bathroom Colonial-style home and magnificent 11.86-acre land. Maddow enlisted architect Nicole Migeon to design a separate bathhouse for a hot tub and second bathroom at the back of the property. The structure was constructed with vertical wood slats and had sloping roofing. While they could have added the room as an attached extension to the house, Maddow and her partner decided against doing so since they didn’t want to change the house’s bare bones.
