A Young Boy from Uganda

Several years ago, photos of a little boy from Uganda had become popular all over the internet, and it’s obvious why. While the boy’s identity was not revealed, his pictures captured the attention of internet users. Well, take a look at his deep-blue ocean eyes! You just can’t resist looking at his beauty!

However, the boy suffers from a medical condition called Waardenburg Syndrome, which causes some degree of congenital hearing problems, changes in pigmentation of the eyes and skin, and other pigmentation deficiencies, such as “Mallen streak.” In the little boy’s case, he has white patches on his hands and face. Other notable persons with this condition include YouTube star Stef Sanjati, who was diagnosed with Waardenburg Syndrome Type 1.

Aleece Wilson

Aleece Wilson always wanted to become a model. Initially, she thought she would never achieve her dream since she had not seen models who had similar physical attributes as her. She has freckles and extra curly hair. She also has wide hips, for which she was bullied during her teenage years. For these very reasons, she lost confidence in herself.

However, Wilson got her hopes up when she was spotted by an agent one day. She has captured the attention of Canada’s Elite Models agency, and it didn’t take long for her to strut her way to the New York Fashion Week runway flooring back in 2017. With her early achievements in the modeling scene, we’re confident that she’ll go places!

Alek Wek

Model Alek Wek has a moving story to tell. As a child, she had to flee her native country Sudan due to a civil war, so she and her family called a moving company to migrate to Europe. She later attended the London College of Fashion to study Fashion Business and Technology.

While shopping at a market back in the mid-’90s, Wek was spotted by a model scout who booked her a job in the GoldenEye music video by Tina Turner. From there, she started a career in fashion modeling, and Ford Models signed her into their company the following year. In 1997, Wek was hailed MTV’s “Model of the Year” and was the first African model to grace the Elle magazine cover.

Angel Giuffria

Angel Giuffria is an amputee who has used a prosthetic arm for most of her life. Later, she got the chance to use a bionic arm, which allowed her to perform daily activities with great success. Since then, Giuffra has advocated for bionics.Aside from that, she has also joined the acting industry, earning credits in CBS’ FBI Most Wanted and NBC’s Chicago Med.

Giuffra said she has always dreamt of acting since her childhood but thought it was unrealistic because of her medical condition. Born without her left arm, Giuffra has used prosthetics and bionics, which is something that makes her stand out in Hollywood. She’s also the only actress with a bionic arm and a congenital limb difference.

Arina Lubiteleva

Arina Lubiteleva doesn’t have any health condition that affects any of her physical functions. However, her large ears somewhat made her different than most of us. What we admire about the young lady is that she has fully embraced her flaws and proudly shows her large ears! The Ukrainian model has inspired many women to be proud of their physical features and even garnered almost 79,000 followers on her Instagram account.

While some of us are self-conscious about having large ears, Lubiteleva doesn’t want to hide hers behind her hair. In fact, in each of her pictorials and photos she posts on Instagram, she makes it a point her ears can be seen. Credits to the young model, she has encouraged many others to accept their imperfections.

Blonde Streak

What do you think Sweeny Todd, Bonnie Raitt, and Cruela Devil have in common? Aside from the fact that their characters are villains, they all have white streaks on their hair. The fact is, their hair wasn’t dyed or highlighted, but they have a rare health condition called poliosis, otherwise called a “Mallen Streak.” This rare hair condition is hereditary and is characterized by the absence of melanin in eyelashes, head hair, or eyebrows.

The term “Mallen streak” first came into prominence back in the ’70s and was credited to novelist Catherine Cookson in her Mallen trilogy, which tells the story of a family who shares the hereditary white streak in their hair. Famous personalities with a “Mallen streak” include public servant Ed Milliband and TV presenter George Lamb.
