Former Prime Minister of Iceland,Johanna Sigurdardottir,was the first LGBT leader in modern times. She has been married to her longtime partner,Jonina Leosdottir,since 2010. However,the pair had been in relationship far longer than that. Though Sigurdardottir admitted that their coming out to their relatives was a long process,they were accepted in the end. However,it did pose a problem because of Sigurdardottir’s time as a politician.

Fortunately,the former PM made a mark during her leadership though it wasn’t as smooth sailing as she had hoped. Still with her wife by her side,she took everything in stride. The pair prefer to keep their personal lives out of the limelight,but it is hard to not be impressed by this lovely couple. One of their biggest investments is the book that they wrote about their journey as an LGBT couple. Although the LGBTQ+ community is still in the process of being accepted,the pair has been celebrating the wins that their community get.
