He has been married to long-time lover David Furnish.

They first met back in 1993 at a party in Elton’s house. The two soon began dating and the singer would pop the question in 2005. They then made it official and filed for a civil partnership,and when same-sex marriage was legalized,they switch to an official marriage. They held the ceremony in Windsor during their anniversary,on December 21,2014. The two continue to advocate for equality,dignity,and acceptance for every queer people. Moreover,Furnish also serves as a board member at Elton John Aids Charity.
